Crowns & Bridges

We all want to enjoy a smile that is healthy and beautiful, and restorations like crowns and bridges can help you reach that goal. Today we use the most up-to-date techniques and materials that make placing crowns and bridges easier than ever before.

Uses for Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are restorations that protect and strengthen your teeth when they’ve been compromised by decay or disease. Dental crowns are custom-made to encase a damaged natural tooth to restore function and provide support. They are versatile restorations and can be used to correct a number of problems:

  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Severely decayed teeth
  • Broken fillings
  • Large, unattractive fillings

Ceramic crowns are very popular, but we may also use other materials like zirconia or gold to fit your needs and budget.

A dental bridge is commonly used to fill the gap left by a missing tooth. It is made up of an artificial tooth that is held in place by crowns attached to neighboring teeth. This is referred to as a fixed bridge. Bridges improve your appearance and prevent the surrounding teeth from changing position and affecting alignment.

What Does Placing A Crown or Bridge Involve?

We start by preparing your natural teeth and then we take impressions. The impressions are sent to a dental lab and used to create your permanent restoration. Before you leave our office, we fit you with a temporary bridge or crown that you wear while the new crown or bridge is being prepared. In about two weeks, you will return to our office so we can adjust and fit your new restoration.

Once the restoration is finished, we will schedule an appointment for you to return to our office. At that time we check the finished restoration for proper fit, making adjustments as necessary. Finally, the restoration is cemented permanently into place.

We are proud of the beautiful results we can achieve for you with our high-quality, beautiful restorations. Please contact our Oak Grove dental office for more information or to arrange a convenient consultation.
